Frequently Asked Questions

What can I do if I feel like one of the agencies listed in Community Resource Finder may not be treating my loved one well?

We encourage you to report that to the management of that facility, and consider reaching out to the The National Long-Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center to report any unpleasant and frightening experience you had with a facility.  They provide information about federal ombudsman or advocates for residents of nursing homes, board and care homes and assisted living facilities and you can find your local ombudsman here. You can also call our  24/7 Helpline anytime at 800.272.3900, and a care consultant can review your experience and assist you with finding alternative care or support.

We know that finding quality care is of utmost importance and assessing options can be confusing.  We createCommunity Resource Finder as a tool to help sort and navigate the listings, but it does not serve as a recommendation.  In fact, the Alzheimer’s Association does not endorse any of the providers listed. The information contained in the Community Resource Finder is thought to be reliable but is not guaranteed to be accurate. It is compiled from provider descriptions of their own services as well as other public data sources.

Again we encourage those who need assistance in how to determine the best care option for your situation and to help manage the dementia-related behavior that you may find at home, call the 24/7 Helpline at 800-272-3900.
