    Staff certifications and training:
    Hale Kū'ike's staff training is largely based on the 'Best Friends' model which has proven to be very effective. Each staff member is trained to understand the experience of memory loss and to focus on residents' strengths. Strong connections with residents are made by learning their life story and applying the qualities of friendship.

    Each person is assessed on a case by case basis. About half of our residents will spend their final days with us and we do work with hospice agencies.

    The meaning of "Ku'ike" is to understand. From the start we have tried to understand the needs of those with memory loss and to create an environment that is understandable for them. There is a reason behind each element in Hale Ku'ike. Even the smallest details were carefully researched.
