Villa St. Vincent has been a premier provider of health services to older adults of the Northwest MN and Northeastern ND communities for more that a half a century. Located in a highland area just on the edge of Crookston, the Villa is a tranquil setting - offering an exceptional level of service and care. Our residents are very special to us and we approach their care and well-being in a dignified and respectful manner. Yet, quality care goes beyond meeting just a person's needs. Our Benedictine mission and values promote holistic cae , which included ministering to each person's psychological, spiritual and social needs as well, based on our core values - which include hospitality, stewardship, respect and justice. While our sponsorship is Catholic, we serve people of all faiths, races and national origin. At the Villa, we feel we are a natual extension of the Crookston community and that we have the honor of providing care for our community's elders and support of the their families. We encourage families and friends to visit residents and become involved with the care and daily living of their loved ones. We strive to offer our comfort and understanding to those we serve. SKILLED NURSING: Our skilled nursing units accommodate 80 residents. Most of the rooms ar eprivate and are all located on one level. The rooms, lounges and dining areas are tastefully decorated to bring the delights of northern MN indoors. Our residents love the sunny patio area, sun room area and bird aviary where there is always so much to watch and enjoy. Our speciality is round-the-clock skilled care provided by an exceptional staff with expertise in caring for older adults. The care team is led by a RN Unit Manager, the resident's physician and other professionals including LPN's, nursing assistants, dieticians, social work staff, physical, occupational and speech therapists, restorative nursing, leisure specialists and pastoral care associates. We work closely with the resident's and their families to develop a plan of care that promotes each resident's individuality and choices. SPECIAL CARE UNIT (MEMORY CARE): Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of memory loss affect one-quarter of all families in the US today. Those suffering from Alzhemier's Disease and dementia disorders need patience, love and understanding more than ever. Familiar, cozy surroundings are often their only source of comfort. Villa St. Vincent recognized the special needs of this population and opened a Special Care Unit in 1993. The atmosphere, programming and staffing are all geared exclusively to mee the needs of each individual with memory loss. The Special Care Unit has 12 private and 12 semi-private rooms. The atmosphere provides a prominent sense of calm, security and safety. There is a security system to alert staff and promote the safety of rseidents in the Special CAre Unit. Porgrammin and activities revolve around familiar daily routines - socialization, music, games, baking, etc. There is a fenced in walk area and a gazebo for an outdoor experience for our residents. Indisde, a salt wter aquarium and bird aviary provides for a calming atmosphere. We offer a nice mix of structured and unstructured activities, keeping the needs of each indivicual in mind.
