    In addition to obtaining proper certification or licensure, all staff assigned to work with dementia residents is trained by St. Benedict’s Senior Community on an annual basis. Topics of Alzheimer’s education include “Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias,” “Assistance with Activities of Daily Living,” “Caregiver Role,” “Managing Challenging Behaviors,” “Communications Skills for Persons with Alzheimer’s,” and “Support of Family Members and Providing Care for Confused Residents.” Continued education credits are required to support staff members’ certifications or licensures. In addition to dementia-specific training, direct care staff also receives St. Benedict’s Senior Community general orientation education and Home Care training as required by the applicable Home Care Class F licensure.
