At San Juan Villa, we strive to provide several different approaches of care for the resident with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of memory loss. The Gentle-care, the Eden Alternative, and the Best Friend approaches are some of the more contemporary and highly-regarded models that are more social than clinical in application. They have been developed to support rather than to challenge the resident. Our commitment is to set the standard for the highest-quality dementia care in the Pacific Northwest. We are here to assume the 24/7 responsibilities in the most compassionate and caring way possible, and our commitment is to provide the same quality of care we would expect for our own parents or loved ones. We conscientiously recruit the most talented and compassionate caregivers and nursing staff within the region. It is this level of compassion and true motivation that distinguishes our handpicked team from those of other long-term care communities.
    All genders welcome
    Eligibility requirements:
Our Director of Health Services, a Registered Nurse, will carefully assess the needs of each individual prior to their admission. The assessment, based on a point system, will be used to determine the level of care and will be evaluated with the Administrator, the prospective resident, and their family members or guardian, in order to establish a service plan to best meet the resident's needs. The service plan will be reviewed regularly and will be revised as needed. We offer a basic rate for minimal-need residents and provide 6 levels of additional care, with placement determined by the assessment score and the individual's specific requirements.

We cannot accommodate a resident who displays intentional aggression or violent behavior toward caregivers or other residents as this is a freedom of choice and movement community and we cannot put other residents at risk for harm. We cannot accommodate a resident that will need intravenous medical intervention or anyone who may need a 2 person assist for the majority of the time.
Special care programs offered for Alzheimer's and Dementia residents:
Our entire daily and nightly focus is toward the memory impaired seniors. The peace of mind we offer is a result of our most prominent attributes: awareness of need; specialized care; freedom of choice and movement; attention to the individual and a warm family-like atmosphere. We realize some residents desire to be more social than others. Our Program Director and staff will make every effort to engage residents and encourage them to participate in individual or group activities. However, we will always respect and honor a resident's wishes for individual space and privacy. We strive to accommodate the needs and the desires of the individual, rather than forcing one to adapt or conform to a particular regimen or routine. This alleviates agitation and frustration. San Juan Villa focuses on providing Gentle-Care, blending successful aspects of other approaches as part of our care giving program
