    At Colonial Gardens our entire caregiving staff is trained to care for our residents with dementia. All staff have a minimum of 16 hours of training in dementia care. They are also provided with ongoing dementia training by a gerentologist.

    Special care programs offered for Alzheimer's and Dementia residents:
    At Colonial Gardens our entire caregiving staff is trained to recognize and provide activities for our residents. From the informal activities of greetings and routine socialization, to monthly family get-togethers, our residents also stay busy with organized and designed daily activities. A regular routine of physical, spiritual, psychosocial, musical, cognitive, and sensory activities are designed around the histories of our residents. Because our professional staff is trained to respect the residents' reality, our daily orientation consists of a weather report, review of our last holiday and preparation for our next holiday. We understand the needs of our residents and we are dedicated to providing stimulation that is appropriate and dignified.

    Colonial Gardens has many local entertainers who come at least weekly. We also have pet therapy, one act plays, religous groups, and groups of children. We have very large yards with large planters and walking trails for outdoor activities.
