We take the concept of "assisted living" literally. Our residents enjoy daily exercise, special activities, and trips to local points of interest, such as the nearby Heritage Museum & Gardens and the Sandwich Glass Museum. Here on the Upper Cape, Decatur House residents are surrounded by wonderful art galleries, museums, quaint villages and sandy beaches. The variation of weekly activities will assure that each resident is provided an opportunity for socialization and fun. From our own gardens, fresh-cut flower arrangements are scattered throughout the residence for all to admire. Residents enjoy the delicious aroma of our chef's Cape Cod dinner specialties and desserts being prepared especially for them. The atmosphere at Decatur House is warm, inviting, and homey. We provide transportation to doctor appointments, hair salon, and special outings. Laundry service is provided including ironing upon request.     Staff certifications and training:
    Decatur House provides employees yearly retraining of: Policies, safety, disaster/ pandemic, resident rights, abuse, falls, depression, communication, behavior, diabeties, dementia, osha training, and infection control. This training is mandatory for all staff members and is done over the course of the year, this retraining takes 14-17 hours.Decatur House's PCA's are also required an additional 8 hours of retraining for medication management, personal care and dementia.

    Decatur House offers an abundance of daily activities, we have a companion that comes in Monday thru Friday to take residents out and about. The morning is dedicated to taking the residents around town, whether it is to go shopping or just look at the boats in the canal.Then we have an excersise class and discussion before lunch. Our weekly activities are going to the town library, bingo,golfing (indoor) art & scrabble at our local Council on Aging. Our monthly activities include Travel Log, a musical guest, bridge, a lunch out and one event a month (going to the opera or symphony)
