Situated on 22 acres in historic Southbury, Connecticut, Pomperaug Woods was designed to complement the style of New England architecture so prevalent throughout the historic Woodbury-Southbury area. Independent living is the cornerstone of the Pomperaug Woods lifecare retirement community. Also known as a continuing care retirement community, lifecare provides independent living accommodations, in-home assistance and access to skilled nursing care in one single campus-like setting. At Pomperaug Woods, your regular monthly fee includes a comfortable apartment, flexible dining options, and guaranteed long-term care coverage for life. This full continuum of care meets the health care needs of our residents even if these needs change over time. At Pomperaug Woods this continuum of care includes in-home assistance in living and licensed skilled nursing services from our Heath Center should you require these services. One of the most significant benefits of our lifecare retirement community is that it provides our residents with the security of knowing that all their future health needs are taken care of. This is especially important for spouses because it means that neither husband nor wife will have to move away from the Pomperaug Woods community if one individual becomes ill and needs nursing care. That’s because skilled health care services required are all on-site. Only lifecare eliminates worries about unforeseen medical expenses. That’s because lifecare gives you the financial security of knowing that your fees will remain predictable even if your health care needs change over the years. It’s this sense of genuine security that reassures our residents and their families that they made the right decision in choosing Pomperaug Woods. Situated on 22 acres in historic Southbury, Connecticut, Pomperaug Woods was designed to complement the style of New England architecture so prevalent throughout the historic Woodbury-Southbury area. We offer a wide variety of floor plans to suit your individual needs and lifestyle and everyone has been carefully designed to assure the utmost in efficiency and comfort. All kitchens have maple or white cabinets, Corian counter tops, and stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, full-size refrigerator, electric stove and garbage disposal. Some apartments have washers and dryers. First floor apartments all have patios. All residences have walk-in showers and walk-in closets. Some of the newest additions to Pomperaug Woods include two bedroom units with enhanced storage space, two full baths, and California Closet organizers to help maximize space. From outdoor Dixieland jazz concerts in the summer to smaller indoor jazz trios, art shows, weekly community events, special interest and hobby clubs, opera and theater performances, there’s always something to do at Pomperaug Woods. How much you take advantage of it is entirely up to you. Our activities program is so inclusive that residents are limited only by the number of hours in the day.
