We have a lovely home in a quiet residential neighborhood; a backyard with a giant bird aviary; mountain views; a garden to plant in, weed or water the many pots around the house (indoor and out). We provide physician/nursing house calls, as well as in-home lab and x-ray services. We have a wonderful, efficient, certified caregiving staff who will take great care of each resident's everyday needs as well as spending one-on-one time to talk, read, or watch TV together. We aim to provide an atmosphere to help ward off loneliness and boredom. We have scheduled visits for weekly exercise and entertainment (various games and arts & crafts), as well as days of music, laughter and memory sharing. Our home is peaceful, well-kept and relaxing. We serve delicious home-cooked meals and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables. Our home has extensive safety and security systems and a call system in the bedrooms and bathrooms. We are devoted to providing a home where you will feel secure, safe and comfortable.

We pay particular attention to the latest news in the areas of dementia, parkinson's disease, pain management and hospice care. In addition, we seek practical knowledge of alternative nutrition and treatments for our residents. We continuously exceed the continuing education requirements in our field.

Diminished abilities or stage of disease that would result in a transfer or discharge:
Diminished abilities are a natural progression of the disease and we are well educated and feel quite confident in our care at the later stages of dementia (medical and behavioral). Any behavior that indicated potential harm to the resident or another resident would result in a family conference and a discharge from our home. We would offer any assistance possible to find the right setting for the resident.
Special care programs offered for Alzheimer's and Dementia residents:
We ascribe to a program that teaches actual brain mechanics and simple exercises for our aging minds. The goal is to aid in the retention of memory AND absorption of new daily interactions and experiences. We have learned that interaction with nature - especially bird-watching - is particularly helpful in calming the restlessness in Alzheimer's/dementia patients. We have an exquisite aviary which has daily visitors from our wild feathered friends - this provides soothing entertainment for all of us. Movement is a critical factor in trying to slow-down the Parkinson's disease process and we greatly encourage our residents to participate with us in any and all of our activities and outings.
