    About My Business
    REAL Services has the responsibility of planning, developing, implementing and administering a network of services that are of high standards, are known, available, and used by older adults and low-income households in our area, based on their age and/or economic status. The ultimate objective of REAL Services is to assist in establishing a communty in which those we serve can maintain their independence to the maxium degree possible and find meaning and satisfaction throughout their lives.

    Componnenet Programs:
    • Aged and Disabled Resource Center: If you are a senior, person with a physical disability, or a caregiver, it is likely you have questions about long term care and in home services as well as how to maintain your independence in yoru community. We will listen to your needs, assess your situation, give you options, help you choose the best option for YOU and we will provide you with helpful resources and information for your needs.
    • Transportation: Escort and transportation services for older adults to doctors, grocery stores, banks and other necessary appointments.
    • Nutrition Services: Low cost nutritious meals with recreational activities adn informational programs are available in centers in all five counties. For homebound individuals and those unable to prepare adequate meals for themselves, we offer Meals on Wheels: nutritious meals devlieverd by volunteers on a daily basis.
    • Energy Assistance: Assistance to income eligible households with their heating expenses during the winter months.
    • Home Weatherization: Assistance to income eligible households to reduce fuel consumption and fuel expenses by providing weatherization measures for homes at not cost to those served.
    • Home and Community Based Services: A set of services designed to assist older adults and disabled individuals maintain independence in their home and community. We help you understand all of your financial options which may include privately paying, government assistance, or through Medicaid, Medciare, or private insurance.
    • Geriatric Care Management: REAL Senior Solutions ensures that the older adults you love are getting the assistance they need to live a safe, enriched life. Privately paid care management coordinated to meet an individual's needs.
    • Guardianship: Legal guardianship for persons 60 and over who are mentally incapacited and have no family or friends who are able, appropriate, and/or willing to serve as their health and financial representative.
    • Family Caregiver Program: Individualized assistance, respite care, information and resourves to help you care for your older family members. Caregiver training opportunities are scheduled regularly.
    • Foster Grandparent Program: Opportunities for low-income persons age 55 and over to give supportive person-to-person services to children with special or exceptional needs. Stipends provided.
    • Nursing Home Ombudsman: Trained individuals to advocate for quality care of nursing home residents. Training to nursing home staff and counseling to families of residents regarding rights. They attempt to facilitate resolution of residents' concerns.
    • Health and Education: Nutrition awareness, healthy living practices, and disease management are just a few of the topics presented in communities throughout our area.
    • Crime Victim Program: For older adults in St. Joseph county who have been a victim of a crime. Counseling, crime prevention information, crisis intervention, advocacy, referrals, home security inpsections and specialized short-term case management.
    Fees And Payment Sources Accepted
    Private pay fee schedules for certain departments. Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance and governmental funding are all used to provide financial assistance. Each componnent program has individual financial guidelines for accessing services.
