    An Albany, NY based law firm concentrating in planning for the success and financial security of individuals, families and businesses. Our areas of practice include: Elder Law including Asset Protection, Medicaid and Long Term Care Planning, Medicaid Applications and Guardianships; Wills, Trusts and Estates; Business Planning and Corporate Law; Financial Planning including Tax, Investment and Retirement Planning; and both residential and commercial Real Estate.

    From its inception over twenty five years ago, Burke & Casserly, P.C., has provided planning counsel to individuals, families and businesses. Located in Upstate New York and serving the greater Capital District, we help our clients protect their assets, plan their financial future, grow their business and preserve their family legacy.

    Our areas of practice include the highly specialized area of Elder Law including Asset Protection, Medicaid and Long Term Care Planning, Medicaid Applications and Guardianships; Wills, Trusts and Estates; Business Planning and Corporate Law; Financial Planning including Tax, Investment and Retirement Planning; and both residential and commercial Real Estate.

    Our objective is to develop a long term relationship with each client based upon that client’s personal planning goals. Each client has individualized circumstances and whether it involves a complex estate plan or a routine transaction, Burke & Casserly tailors a plan to meet each client’s unique needs and concerns.

    Experience And Credentials
    Our firm has lectured on Elder Law, Estate and Financial planning topics to many organizations and businesses across the country, including General Electric, the American (ABA) and New York State Bar Associations (NYSBA), the State University of New York, National Academy for Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), St. Peter’s Hospital, local elder care facilities and organizations, and the Financial Planning Association.

    Tim Casserly is past Chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law Section, Founding Chair of its Advanced Institute program and member of the NYSBA’s House of Delegates. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys. Tim is a Fellow of The New York Bar Foundation. The New York Bar Foundation is the charitable arm of the New York State Bar Association. The Fellows are a distinguished group of legal professionals, with only one percent of Bar Association membership invited to share in this honor. Tim was named a Super Lawyer in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012, and was selected for inclusion in the New York Super Lawyers 2011 - Upstate Edition List, as well as Top 25 Attorneys in Hudson Valley Magazine's Super Lawyer Section.

    JulieAnn Calareso is the current Vice Chair of New York State Bar Association’s Elder Law section. JulieAnn has recently returned to serving on the Board of Directors of the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York’s Board of Directors, where she had previously served as a Director and has previously been honored with the Lisa Goldberg Memorial Award for outstanding commitment and service to the Board. She is a former Director of Senior Services of Albany, and is a member of the Capital District Caregivers Coalition, where she works with other dedicated professionals to provide educational and supportive programming for persons providing care to others. She is also a graduate of the Leadership Tech Valley Class of 2011, a joint leadership initiative of the Albany Colonie and Schenectady Chambers of Commerce. JulieAnn was honored by the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce as the recipient of its 2009 Women of Excellence award in the Emerging Professional category. She now serves on Steering Committee for the Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Women’s Business Council, where she served as Co-Chair of the Woman of Excellence Nominating Committee for 2013 and will serve as Co-Chair of the Adopted Non-Profit Committee for that Council for 2014.

    James is an active member of the New York State Bar Association, where he serves as the inaugural section delegate from the Young Lawyers Section to the Association’s Executive Committee, as well as its House of Delegates. James is a Past-Chair of the Young Lawyers Section, and is also a member of the Trusts and Estates and Elder Law Sections. James is a member of the Albany County Bar Association, and currently serves as co-Chair of its Young Lawyers Committee. James currently serves as the President of the Visiting Nurse Service of Northeastern New York’s Foundation Board, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to support and enhance the VNS in its provision of health care to individuals and families in need. Through his work with the VNSF, he also currently serves on the board of directors for the Visiting Nurse Service of Northeastern New York. He also serves on the board of directors for The New York Bar Foundation, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to aiding charitable and educational projects to meet the law-related needs of the public and legal profession.

    Attorney rates range between $175-$295/hour.

    Paralegals rates range between $100-165/hour.
