    At the Weissler Law Group, we focus on helping clients maintain control & preserve their hard earned assets.

    We are Attorneys. We do not sell insurance, annuities or investments.

    We feel that no one should be required to sacrifice a lifetime of work to in order to receive care in their old age. It is in our nature to want to pass on a legacy to our children and grandchildren. We provide Asset Protection, Estate Planning & Elder Law representation.

    Our Elder Law practice focuses on helping our clients maintain control and preserve their assets. We help Seniors stay in their homes longer, hold on to their homes, get quality in-home and skilled nursing home care. We help our Clients stretch and preserve their nest eggs to enhance their quality of life and to empower them to hold on to their assets to pass on as an inheritance to their children.

    Asset Preservation for Seniors often includes helping Clients position themselves so that they can receive Veteran's Administration (VA) home care benefits and qualify for Medi-Cal in home care or nursing home care benefits.
    About My Services
    We help families prepare for and deal with life cycle events, build and protect wealth. We empower families to take action to reduce and avoid the harsh impact of aging. Our practice includes:
    • Estate Planning: Preparing wills. trusts, powers of attorney and advance directives
    • Family Gift Planning: Coaching Client families on the best ways to transfer assets without causing unnecessary taxes or real property tax reassessment.
    • Long Term Care Planning: Creating structures to protect assets from long term care costs and preparing Seniors and their families to access public entitlements to pay for in home care and long term skilled nursing care.
    • Emergency Long Term Care Crisis Intervention: Utilizing existing documents to deal with a near immediate need for care. Establishing structures to protect 'well spouses' and family legacies while empowering families to access public benefits (including but not limited to) Wartime Veterans' Aid and Attendance Benefits and Medi-Cal benefits.
    Experience And Credentials
    Attorney Joel Weissler is a California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization Certified Tax Law Specialist. After earning his three-year law degree in two years and being admitted to the California Bar, Attorney Weissler earned an LLM in Taxation, Cum Laude from the University of San Diego. He is admitted to practice in all California Courts, as well as before the U.S. Tax Court, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and the Federal Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

    He is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the San Diego Council on Aging. In addition, he is a member of Wealth Counsel, and a charter member of Elder Counsel.

    In 2010 he was named a Top Attorney in Estate Planning in San Diego Magazine. In 2013 he was recognized by Matindale Hubbell in the top 5% of attorneys nationwide and received their Client Distinction Award for Client Satisfaction. In 2013 he was also recognized by the "Legal Network" a division of American Law Media as a Top Attorney.

    For more than twenty years, the sole focus of Attorney Joel Weissler's practice and the Weissler Law Group has been to help families prepare for and deal with life cycle events, build and protect wealth. His passion for helping families reduce and avoid the harsh impact of aging and financial predators came from his personal and family experiences.     Attorney Damien Snow joined the Weissler Law Group in 2005. His professional experience working with Seniors started as an intern in law school working for a senior rights and services non-profit law firm. He currently services on the Board and as Vice President of Elder Law and Advocacy.
