    Founded in 1995, Active Day serves over 3,000 clients per day through the nation's largest network of medical adult day care centers, in-home personal care services and outpatient rehabilitation facilities.

    Experience And Credentials
    Barbara Murphy is the Center Director of Active Day in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. An Active Day employee since 2000, Barbara moved to Elizabethtown from Somerset, KY to become the Director. She has worked as Administrative Assistant to the Regional Director, Assistant Administrator to the Somerset Director, and Administrator of Therapy Department.

    Barbara received her AA degree in Psychology in 1998 from Somerset Community College and her BS in Organizational Management in 2001 from Tusculum College. Having worked as an Interpreter for the Deaf, she held an Intermediate Level through the Kentucky Interpreter Skills Screening; she worked 6 years with Deaf students in public schools as well as interpreting for her church’s televised ministry. She taught sign language for two years for the community college.

    Barbara has worked with people who have physical or mental challenges for 25 years. She is currently serving on a committee for the Regional Interagency Transition Team (RITT) and participates in raising awareness for the local Alzheimer’s Association.
