    About My Business
Nurses Plus Hospice is a family-owned and operated organization founded by a mother of two and RN of 25 years, Carmelita Z. Mabini. Despite her passing to pancreatic cancer in 2005, her two children, along with the help of an amazing team at Nurses Plus Hospice, passionately continue Carmelita’s mission to positively affect the lives of others by advocating quality-of-life through the spirit and philosophy of compassion and lifelong learning.
    About My Services

Hospice is committed to helping patients achieve a state of physical and emotional comfort, which in turn allows them to experience a full, meaningful, and quality-oriented life.

We take an active approach in encouraging our patients to enjoy what they love - hospice provides resources and outlets for patients to take part in the things they enjoy the most or things they’ve always wanted to do like write a biography, make art or learn a new dance.

One of the main goals of hospice is to alleviate and control the pain often experienced by patients with a terminal condition. In fact, hospice specializes in keeping a patient comfortable while keeping them as alert and conscious as possible.

When on hospice, patients can receive their care at home, or wherever they call “home” and feel comfortable. Family and friends are actively involved and participate in the care of their loved one.

Allowing the patient to stay and receive their care at home can foster the development of closer and enriched relationships. It also helps those close to the patient become less frightened about their loved one’s terminal condition. Through hospice, we empower the family to become directly involved in making decisions and helping a person they love.

In order to meet the needs of patient with a terminally ill condition, it takes more than just one person to do the job. In fact, it takes an entire team of different disciplines to provide the right kind of care. A team of physicians, nurses, hospice aides, counselors, chaplains, pharmacists, therapists, volunteers and more are individually designed and tailored according to the patients’ and families’ needs.

Family and friends of the patient providing care can rest assure that they always have a RN available on the phone for help and support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A member of the hospice team will come to the patient’s home if their condition cannot be managed over the phone.

We have a bereavement team ready to help family and friends for the loss of a loved one. Hospice even provides support for up to 13 months after a family’s loss through grief counseling, volunteer visits, support groups and programs, resources and materials to help with coping, and even help with funeral services and arrangements.
