Show Chapter

In the middle stage of Alzheimer’s disease, those who were care partners now become hands-on caregivers. Join us for this 3-part series and hear caregivers and professionals discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective and comfortable care in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s.

Additional Information

Let's hear from caregivers who share their experience first-hand. This is a recording of Caregivers Talk, A Panel first delivered on Wednesday, April 14, 6:00pm - 7:30pm

Featuring Dr. Paul Brown, Barbara Ivey, and Elizabeth Reinstein who will share their experiences and insights of caregiving from a variety of perspectives (spouse/partner, adult child as secondary caregiver, adult child as primary carepartner)

Barbara Ivey is an author, Certified Dementia Practitioner, and the creator ofWhat to expect when Mom has Alzheimer’s.Her mother, a Registered Nurse, developed early onset Alzheimer’s at age 61. Barbara’s father was slow to accept a team approach to dementia care, and Barbara witnessed the impact that solo-caregiving had on him. Today, Barbara inspires caregivers and their adult children to team up to provide sustainable dementia care.

Elizabeth Reinstein is from Raleigh, North Carolina and graduated from ECU in 2018. Following her graduation, she began teaching first grade in Durham public schools. She loves to be outdoors with her dog Theodore. She is also a huge Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loves to play fantasy football. While that keeps her very busy, Elizabeth also is a caregiver for her father, Jay, who has younger onset Alzheimer’s disease.
