The purpose of early-stage support groups is to provide a safe and supportive environment of peers who are living in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and the care partners. These groups offer dementia-related education, emotional support and connections with resources so that the group members may enhance their lives in the midst of the disease.
This group is designed for both individuals living with memory loss, mild cognitive impairment (MCI), Alzheimer’s disease, or another form of dementia, as well as their caregivers. Caregivers and their loved ones in the early stage are encouraged to attend together.
During the meeting, participants will split into two rooms for discussion: one for caregivers and one for those living with dementia. Both groups meet at the same time and in the same location, allowing participants to arrive and leave together.
If you are a caregiver for someone in the early stage and do not have dementia yourself, please attend with your loved one or contact our Helpline for additional caregiver-specific resources. We offer many caregiver-only support groups and ask that this space be reserved primarily for individuals in the early stages and their care partners, so participants can connect with others on a similar journey in a supportive and comfortable environment.
