This program covers two core topics. First, learn how dementia changes relationships over time, the benefits of person-centered care approaches, how to create a supportive care team and steps to identify and manage caregiver stress. Second, learn how dementia changes a person’s independence and impacts safety, how to provide the right amount of support, and tips to make every activity meaningful to the person living with dementia.

Additional Information

Navigating care options can feel overwhelming, but understanding available resources can help caregivers make informed decisions and prepare for future needs. This session will explore local and community-based support services, respite care options, residential care considerations, and planning for changes that may occur as dementia progresses. Participants will learn how to evaluate care choices, identify sources of support, and create a plan that meets the needs of both the caregiver and the person living with dementia. The goal is to help caregivers feel empowered, informed, and connected to resources that can support them throughout their caregiving journey.

This free program will be held at the RCS Community Library, 95 Main Street, Ravena, NY 12143.
No registration is required.
Join us on October 1, October 15, and October 29, 2026, for this three-part caregiver education series.
